The Draycott Arms, Draycott-in-the-Moors, Staffordshire
A sizeable whitewashed pub prominently situated on a bend on a now-bypassed section of the A50 trunk road. Still appears to be thriving on StreetView. The new road opened in the 1990s so that can’t really be blamed.
They've even reduced the selling price now by a staggering £50,000 but it still isn't getting interest.
ReplyDeleteLuckily, the Izaak Walton pub, a quarter-mile away, has recently fully reopened.
I look after the Draycott website (http://draycottinmoors.wordpress.com), so i'm watching developments!
GOOD News!! The Draycott Arms is to re-open! See - http://draycottinmoors.wordpress.com

I tried door it was locked, looked through windows lights on but could not see any staff or customers. For a recently opened public house which advertises on the web opening hours of 11.30am to 11.00pm mon to sat and 11.00am to 11.00pm sunday .I was looking forward to seeing the old pub back open again.Went home disapointed for a can.

ReplyDeleteI've never actually been in the pub, although I did take the photo of it in a closed state. I don't think it's unreasonable for a country pub to close on a winter weekday afternoon, although I agree it would be a good idea to publicise this on the website and on a sign by the door.
ReplyDeleteThe Draycott Arms is OPEN. We pass three or four times a week and it is always open.
ReplyDeleteWe Called today and the Beer was excellent and the food Great.
