A street-corner pub at the north-east end of this chemical industry town. This was my dad’s local when he became old enough to drink.

    You will be happy to learn (if you don't already know) that The Castle has re-opened as has The Albert (the pub on the other side of Albert Road bridge here in Widnes. The Castle was my granddad's local and I've had a few in both pubs myself over the years, sometimes with mates and sometimes with my own dad. Happy days.

    Good blog on a matter that not many people care about. They will when its too late.

    The only pub I know where you could go out the door and put one hand on the wall and walk around and go back into the same door.
