The Cheshire Midland

The Cheshire Midland, Hale, Cheshire

A four-square inter-wars pub in the centre of prosperous Hale next to the station, which was originally built by the Cheshire Midland railway company. It was abruptly closed pre-Covid by Humphrey Smith, allegedly due to failing to enforce Samuel Smiths’s mobile phone ban, and has never reopened since, although it was only boarded up relatively recently.

  1. Won't be long before all Sam Smiths pubs are closed. They are closing rapidly in Leeds, he needs to drop these silly rules.

    1. The widespread closures of Sam Smith's pubs are more to do with Humphrey's difficulties in recruiting new managers, and his reluctance to employ relief managers, than with the company's policies as such. Some Sam's pubs with established managers do very good business.
