The Throstle’s Nest

The Throstle’s Nest, Congleton, Cheshire

A small terraced pub on the Buxton road to the east of the town, which has been closed for a number of years and now presents a very sorry sight. There’s an interesting comment on WhatPub? – “No further details as the landlord does not want to go into a real ale guide. Presumably, he does not want your custom.”

  1. Sold at auction for £59k in May 2014 (auction.co.uk/residential/LotDetails.asp?A=877&MP=84&ID=877000224), and had been closed a while before then - I can't see this one coming back. See also the Shakerley Arms down the road which supposedly is going to be knocked down and redeveloped.
