The Garibaldi

The Garibaldi, Swansea, Glamorgan

A small back-street pub to the west of the city centre. Not yet boarded up on StreetView, although the For Sale signs have appeared.

The Corporation

The Corporation, Newport, Monmouthshire

An impressive street-corner pub on the east side of the River Usk. The StreetView image shows it converted to flats.

The George

The George, Radcliffe, Lancashire

A typical small local pub in an area of terraced housing. This is another one that miraculously reopens as you move forward on StreetView.

The Abbey Hey Hotel

The Abbey Hey Hotel, Abbey Hey, Manchester

A long-closed former Bass pub off the beaten track in East Manchester, now in an advanced state of dereliction.

The Plough & Anchor

The Plough & Anchor, Kingswood, Buckinghamshire

A typical main-road pub with a large car park, no doubt largely given over to dining in recent years. I am told this one has reopened since the StreetView image was taken.

The Mersey Arms

The Mersey Arms, Birkenhead, Cheshire

Another defunct pub in Birkenhead’s run-down docklands. Move forward a little and it magically sprouts some bushes.

Kings

Kings, Poynton, Cheshire

A modern pub, originally a Greenalls house called the Kingfisher, which has gone through a number of unsuccessful “trendy bar” incarnations. Still open on StreetView – the photo was taken earlier this week.

Edit: This pub was later reopened as a branch of Wetherspoons.

The Ducie Arms

The Ducie Arms, Longsight, Manchester

A former Whitbread pub in a run-down area of inner-city Manchester that has experienced a change in its ethnic makeup.
