The Mason’s Arms

The Mason’s Arms, Taunton, Somerset

A small, long-closed back-street pub situated near the impressive church of St Mary Magdalene and next to the rear exit of Taunton’s massive Wetherspoon’s, the Perkin Warbeck.

The Staplegrove Inn

The Staplegrove Inn, Taunton, Somerset

A long, white-painted pub with a projecting front section, overlooking a roundabout on the north-west side of the town. It was reported in March this year that demolition was under way.

The Oxford Inn

The Oxford Inn, Taunton, Somerset

A modern, possibly 1950s, estate pub on the east side of the town, now heavily graffitied. Plans have now been approved to demolish it and built a zero-carbon residential development in its place.

The Bungalow Inn

The Bungalow Inn, Redhill, Somerset

A pub that indeed is a modern bungalow, situated a few miles south of Bristol near the city’s airport, now standing forlorn behind an expanse of unused car park. It appears to have majored on a family-friendly appeal, with a soft play area inside and also an outdoor playground.

The Furnham Inn

The Furnham Inn, Cnard, Somerset

A white-painted pub on the north side of the town whose owners have been trying without success to sell it since 2013. Although it stands on a main road, the Google cameras have not been that way since 2009, so it still shows as open on StreetView.

The King’s Head

The King’s Head, Wells, Somerset

An old brick-built pub in the picturesque main street of England’s smallest city. I don’t know the history, but surely this is an entirely viable location, unless it is slated for retail conversion.

The Englishcombe Inn

The Englishcombe Inn, Bath, Somerset

An impressive manorial-style suburban pub in Cotswold stone, opened in 1934 and now converted to a nursing home.
