The English Rose
A street-corner pub at the back of the station, once a CAMRA favourite noted for selling a large number of ever-changing guest ales. Planning permission has now been granted for conversion to residential use.
The Bird in Hand
A substantial inter-wars pub on a main road to the north of the town centre. It still looks fairly spick-and-span on the StreetView image from last year, but it closed in November 2018, although a community group is aiming to reopen it.
