The Farfield Inn

The Farfield Inn, Sheffield, West Riding of Yorkshire

A white-painted corner pub stranded in an area of industrial dereliction near the river Don to the north of the city centre. Take a step back and it’s miraculously open again.

The Grapes

The Grapes, Pease Pottage, Sussex

A former King & Barnes pub on a bypassed section of the A23 Brighton Road, taken over and closed by Hall & Woodhouse and demolished and replaced by housing since the picture was taken. See here for more information.

The Cottage Inn

The Cottage Inn, Walsall, Staffordshire

A small terraced pub on a busy dual carriageway to the west of the town centre, now converted to flats although retaining its sign.

The New Hop and Barleycorn

The New Hop and Barleycorn, Coseley, Staffordshire

An unusually-named redbrick estate-style pub that, untypically, seems to have acquired modern-style name lettering before its closure. This is another one where, if you move one step forward on StreetView, it magically turns from open to closed.

The Weavers Arms

The Weavers Arms, Failsworth, Lancashire

A pub with a distinctive tiled frontage commanding the busy junction of Oldham Road and Broadway, now being used to advertise a tile retailer. It is in Vaux livery but originally, I think, was Wilsons.

The Pick and Shovel

The Pick and Shovel, Coalville, Leicestershire

A large cream-washed Marston’s pub on the crossroads right in the town centre. Its prospects can’t have been helped by the fact there are other pubs on two of the three corners, including the unusually-named Snibstone New Inn.

The Artful Dodger

The Artful Dodger, Exeter, Devon

Originally known as the John Bull, this pub situated close to Exeter St David’s Station had a short-lived incarnation as “Seamus O’Donnell’s” before closing in 2010 and being converted to a block of flats called “Artful Dodger House”. You can read more about the history of the pub here.

The Trafalgar

The Trafalgar, Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire

Yet another small back-street pub in Burton bites the dust, this one carrying Enterprise Inns signage.

The Bridge House

The Bridge House, Hapton, Lancashire

A stone-built pub next to a bridge over the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. The latest news is that it may be converted into a nursery. The sign visible on StreetView suggests it is tied to (or supplied by) Congleton micro-brewery Beartown.
