An estate pub – by the look of it possibly 1950s additions to an older building – with a massive car park, in the town that was the birthplace of D. H. Lawrence.
Think a century earlier than the 1950s see Nottingham Evening Post 24 Oct 1952 reporting that renovations found an envelope addressed to Robert Smith Publican dated 1859 which had slipped behind the fireplace overmantel.

ReplyDeleteIt may well originally have been an older pub, but those 1952 renovations gave it a characteristically 1950s look.
