Despite being in a busy area close to the University and Manchester Royal Infirmary, with many student flats nearby, this former Greenall’s pub wasn’t able to survive. It has since been demolished.

I never did any of those pubs up Pollard Street, but one that was worth visiting was the Britannia on Rowsley Street, a Lees tied house just north of the New Road, which the late great Alan Winfield visited here. "I had a drink of Lees Bitter which cost 99p for a pint, this was a very poor drink." Also refers to City's "new lego ground" ;-)
Nice pic.
ReplyDeleteWere any of the long-closed pubs between Piccadilly and the Etihad Stadium(Bank of England for one) any good, do you think ?
