The Royal Oak

The Royal Oak, Hazel Grove, Cheshire

A large 1930s Robinson’s pub situated in a residential area away from the main street. Currently in the process of residential redevelopment – not sure whether this will involve demolition of the building.

  1. This is sad to see. I spent many weeks as a child living here as my Grandfather was the Licensee. It was one of the old time places with a piano in one of the bars and bell pushes on the walls for when you need a refill. Upstairs was a large room used for wedding receptions. My grandfather's pride and joy was the bowling green at the rear which, in those days he had to maintain. Ironically, he died while playing bowls in 1973.
    Thanks for your blog.
