Recording the slow, sad death of the British pub
The Malt Shovels, Cheadle, Cheshire
A post-war estate-style pub, still open on StreetView. With plenty of housing nearby and not a particularly run-down area surely there is some potential for this site.
(My own picture)
potential? you mean as a Tesco Express?
This pub has a large catchment and a decent little community pub serving food would do well here. The old building needs pulling down though as the 50's/60s architecture together with the white plastic patio chairs out front that served as the smokers area never gave this place kerb appeal!
as a local to this area i often used this pub , but sadly they put a tennent in that totally neglected it and made it unsightly both inside and out and un hygenic , i feel sure that with some investment this pub could be a very busy buisness again , not only are the elderly people of the area now stuck in at home as they have no local , but this would bring the whole community back together , i do hope tha there is still a chance this could happen /
This has now been flattened and is now a spar with a subway
