This large pub by a roundabout to the west of the town centre was originally two separate pubs – the Prince Albert and the Prince of Orange – which were combined into one.
The Tal-y-Cafn
A once-popular destination pub, formerly tied to Greenalls, alongside the main A470 road in an attractive situation by the River Conwy. Still open on StreetView, and there are apparently plans to reopen it.
The Battery
A massive late Victorian pub with a commanding view over Morecambe’s run-down seafront.
The Hope & Anchor
An imposing three-storey mid-terrace pub just off the town centre that is still very much open on StreetView, but now in a sadly derelict and boarded-up state.
The Globe
A modern pub on the main A460 close to an industrial estate, which looks small from the front but presumably rambles back further. Take a step back and it’s open again.
The Welcome
A redbrick roadside pub with a rendered ground floor, standing at a slightly odd angle to the road, not too far from the Hawthorne.
The Mill
A substantial roadside pub that is still open on StreetView, but closed shortly after the images were taken and has since been subject to two arson attacks, while the surrounding area has been drastically redeveloped.
The Commercial
The Commercial, Widnes, Lancashire
A small, foursquare pub in the Halton View area of the town which many years ago was transferred from Greenalls’ to Wilsons’ ownership as part of a “pub swap”.
The Seven Stars
This once-attractive pub alongside the Stafford-Sandon road used to be a
Burtonwood tied house and featured in many early editions of the Good Beer Guide. Take a step forward into 2009 and it’s open again.
The Sylvan Inn
A massive 1930s neo-Georgian pub unexpectedly hidden away in an area of private housing well off the main roads.
The Woodman
Once a small, unspoilt pub with extensive wood panelling, this was greatly extended and knocked through around 1990, but has now bitten the dust along with the Grove opposite. The Anchor to the left is still trading.
The Cock & Bull
A large postwar pub in distinctive yellow colouring near to the Rolls-Royce factory on the southern outskirts of Derby.
