Closed Pubs: The Glen

A typical post-war pub built by Everards Brewery in 1959 on the Eyres Monsell estate on the south side of the city. It closed in 2022, and recently made the national news when plans to convert it into a mosque were approved.

A FAREWELL TO PUBS

The British pub as we know it is slowly but surely dying. This blog aims to mark its passing with a collection of Google StreetView links to images of closed pubs.

If you have any further suggestions, please send them to me by e-mail. I'm happy to accept photos of pubs that have shut after being pictured on GSV, but do need pics actually showing them closed.

Some of these pubs, as people have reported in the comments, have subsequently reopened. If that happens, it's good news.

I acknowledge the copyright of Google Maps in some of the pictures used on this blog, although a growing number are original photographs by me and other contributors.
