It was designed by Raymond Cooper ARIBA whom I worked for in the late sixties. He was 42 and I 20. I was with it from scribble sketch stage to completion. We were both at the small gathering ( half a dozen or so ) for the pulling of the first pint(s). I had 2. Something I don't do now. More sense. I drew all the working drawings for the construction. It was great fun. We both enjoyed creating The Old Tup. We made sure the detailing was good. Great fun putting the Barrels in the bar front. Are they still there ? The joinery detailing was my responsibility and we put a good roof on it. We had to put in a reinforced concrete beam in the footings over a soft ground spot. Great project, fond memories. We had to change the toilet cubicle layout slightly to accommodate being one inch short of room. Sad to see it closed. what is it now ? I've travelled the world since and I recommend you 'Brits' do the same. Forget British pub culture and find adventure, involvement and help others. Getting pissed in pubs talking bulshit will never do you any good. Get out there.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5429342546678538499.post-64492085825323208052010-11-01T12:50:56.418+00:002010-11-01T12:50:56.418+00:00It's now back open as the Bluebell WoodsIt's now back open as the Bluebell WoodsAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17974863299246188158noreply@blogger.com
